COPYING CD-ROM FILES TO YOUR HARD DRIVE (for Windows Operating System)

Below is the procedure for copying the data files from one of our service or parts CD-ROMs to your computer hard drive. This will free you from loading the CD-ROM into your computer every time you want to access a manual.

The basic procedure is as follows:
1. Create a unique folder on your hard drive for each CD-ROM that you wish to copy to your hard drive
2. Copy the entire contents of the CD-ROM(s) to the new folder(s).
3. Create a shortcut on your desktop to the manual(s) (PDF).

See the following examples for more specific instructions.
The first example is for Windows XP users. Windows 2000 procedures should be similar.
The 2nd example is for Windows 98 users. Windows ME procedures should be similar.

Example for WINDOWS XP:
1. Insert the CD-ROM into you computer CD-ROM drive.
2. When the opening menu appears, close it by clicking the “X” in upper right corner.
3. On your Desktop, double left click on My Computer
4. Right-click on the icon for your CD-ROM drive and select EXPLORE.
5. Press CTRL+A to select all files.
6. Press CTRL+C to copy the files.
7. Close the window displaying the contents of your CD-ROM drive.
8. In the "MY COMPUTER" window, double-click on the icon for your hard drive (usually C:).
9. Click on the command File, New, Folder to create a folder for the CD to be copied. Name the folder as desired (eg, C100SM62, C172PC etc).
10. Open the new folder and press CTRL+V to paste (copy) the files into the new folder.
11. Locate the manuals (PDF file) in the new folder and right-click on each and select "Send To", "Desktop (Create Shortcut)".

You can change the name of the shortcut on your desktop by right clicking on the shortcut and selecting Rename. Double click on the shortcut to open the manual.
